From: State Historical Society of North DakotaBismarck, N.D. – The State Historical Society of North Dakota has compiled subject guides for students competing in National History Day in North Dakota. While the guides were created primarily for middle and high school students, they will also be of value to lifelong learners.
Over seventy subject guides have been created that include primary and secondary sources, useful search terms, publications, and journal articles housed at the State Archives, a department of the State Historical Society. The subject guides are available online at history.nd.gov/archives/rssubjectguides.
This project is partially funded by a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC). The grant funds projects administered by the State Historical Records Advisory Board. For more information about NHPRC grant opportunities, visit www.archives.gov/nhprc.
The theme for the 2023 National History Day competition is "Frontiers in History: People, Places, Ideas." Winning projects at the state competition in Bismarck on April 28 will be awarded up to $2,000 for travel to the national competition in the Washington, D.C., area June 11-15. To register for National History Day in North Dakota, visit nd.nhd.org.
