Statement From RPMN Chair Alex Plechash

Government and Politics

February 7, 2025

“While we are pleased that the no-show Democrats caved to grassroots pressure and the likelihood of a Supreme Court loss, the facts remain unchanged-facts that drove over 7,000 Minnesotans to sign recall petitions in just 24 hours.

Just like a bank robber who returns the stolen money is still guilty of robbery, Democrats failed to show up for work for three weeks collected $300,000 in taxpayer-funded salaries, and held the state hostage during a time of crisis.

So, we will continue the recall process to ensure there are consequences for the Democrats’ nonfeasance.

The Republican Party of Minnesota stands firmly with our grassroots supporters in every legislative district demanding accountability. There isn’t a single private-sector employer in Minnesota that would allow nearly half its workforce to skip work and still demand a paycheck-just because they don’t like their boss.

The days of DFL one-party rule are over. Speaker Demuth and Republicans will hold government accountable, stop Governor Walz’s tax increases, end the rampant fraud and waste, and focus on real issues–like the fact that less than half of Minnesota students can read at grade level and, for the first time, Minnesota students are below the national average.

Governor Walz and the FL have flushed the ‘Minnesota Miracle’ down the drain, allowing fraud, waste, and lawlessness to become the norm.

If our fight for recall elections helps sound the alarm for voters to replace these failed FL legislators-whether through recall or at the ballot box in 2026-Minnesota will be better for it.
