From: City of Gillette

The Gillette Police Department's investigation into a 13-year-old male student making threats of violence at Twin Spruce Junior High School has resulted in that student's arrest.

The investigation concluded that though the student did not have access to firearms, he did threaten to shoot other students on April 6, 2023.  As a result, the student has been charged with making terroristic threats. A person is guilty of a terroristic threat if he or she threatens to commit any violence with the intent to cause serious public inconvenience.

Following recent threats in our community, the Police Department urges residents to immediately report any threat of violence to law enforcement or school officials. All reports will be investigated. Parents and guardians are also encouraged to talk to their children about the serious consequences of making threats.

The Gillette Police Department is committed to public safety and building community partnerships through integrity, trust and transparency.
