5:30 PM - 6:30 PM: Upbeat with Alasdair: A Conversation with Pianist Joyce Yang
Join Music Director Alasdair Neale and pianist Joyce Yang in conversation as they prepare for the Music Festival’s upcoming Winter Season concerts at the Argyros. Ms. Yang rose to fame in 2005 as the youngest contestant and silver medalist at the 12th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. An accomplished chamber musician as well as soloist, she and Maestro Neale will discuss this Winter Season’s concert program among other artistic topics.

Reserve your seats early, as space is currently limited in the Library’s lecture hall. Reservations are accepted in the order they are received; reservations made online are received faster. Capacity is unlimited for the online broadcast and reservations are not required to watch online. Only in-person attendees will be able to participate in the Q&A session that will take place towards the end of the presentation.

7:00 - 9:00 PM: Joyce Yang in Concert with Festival Musicians
The 2025 Winter Season features guest curator and pianist Joyce Yang. A Sun Valley favorite, Ms. Yang has performed several times with Music Director Alasdair Neale and the Festival Orchestra, including the Festival’s Summer Seasons in 2013 (Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1), 2016 (Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F Major), and 2021 (Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2). Ms. Yang rose to fame in 2005 as the youngest contestant and silver medalist at the 12th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. An accomplished chamber musician, she’ll join forces with Festival Orchestra musicians in a program featuring works by Poulenc, Dohnányi, and Schumann. Ms. Yang will also perform solo piano works by Rachmaninoff each evening.
