Warwick, RI - The Republican Party of Rhode Island has concluded its 2025 Reorganization Meeting, electing new leadership in a decisive contest. The slate led by Joe Powers for Chairman, which included Niyoka Powell for Vice Chair, Mary Lou Sanborn for Secretary, and Linda Jamison for Treasurer, emerged victorious in a hard-fought race that showcased the passion and dedication of Republicans across the state.

“We congratulate all of the candidates who stepped forward to serve and fight for the future of the Rhode Island Republican Party,” said newly re-elected Chairman Joe Powers. “Now is the time to unite, put differences aside, and get to work implementing our game plan to grow the party, engage voters, and advance conservative solutions that benefit all Rhode Islanders.”

The Rhode Island GOP is committed to strengthening its grassroots efforts, holding Democrats accountable, and ensuring that common-sense, pro-growth policies take center stage. With the newly elected leadership team in place, the party is focused on building momentum heading into the 2026 election cycle.

Commenting on the results, Vice Chair Niyoka Powell said “Being the minority party in this state means nothing is handed to you and you have to work twice as hard in a constant uphill battle. Only together do we rise.” Secretary Mary Lou Sanborn added, “Our team is one of integrity, and it is my honor to be an officer of the Republican Party of Rhode Island. Let’s unite, and continue doing the right thing for the right reason.”
