Hartford, CT – The Hartford Symphony Orchestra (HSO) presents Tchaikovsky & Bonds as part of the 2024-2025 Masterworks Series. Clayton Stephenson, the 2024-2025 Joyce C. Willis Artist in Residence joins the HSO for his first performance with the Orchestra. Under the direction of dynamic conductor and Connecticut Native, Jonathan Rush, this concert features the unparalleled brilliance of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto, the delightful exuberance of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 3 in D major, op.29 and selections from Bonds’ Montgomery Variations, a tribute to the resilience and spirit of the people of Montgomery, Alabama during the Civil Rights Movement.

Tchaikovsky, Piano Concerto, op. 23, TH 55: Featuring the 2024-2025 Joyce C. Willis Artist in Residence, Clayton Stephenson, this iconic concerto is renowned for its sweeping melodies and virtuosic demands, showcasing the brilliance of the piano in Tchaikovsky’s signature style. The Joyce C. Willis Artist in Residence is graciously funded by the Roberts Foundation for the Arts.
Tchaikovsky, Symphony No. 3 in D major, op. 29, TH 26: Known affectionately as the "Polish" Symphony, this work is infused with vibrant rhythms and exuberant themes, reflecting Tchaikovsky’s deep appreciation for folk music and culture.
