The Nebraska Democratic Party and Black Men United to Host Pantry Drive – Democrats Care, Republicans are Creul Campaign

Government and Politics

March 3, 2025

The Nebraska Democratic Party (NDP) will host a pantry drive event with Black Men United (BMU) this coming Thursday, March 6th. This and other planned activities will be part of our ongoing Democrats Care Campaign to show that Democrats are showing up in the face of Republican cruelty as they cut key programs Nebraskans rely on like SNAP food assistance.

WHAT:
The Nebraska Democratic Party and Black Men United will host a pantry drive at BMU pantry headquarters. The public is encouraged to drop off items such as non-perishable foods, personal hygiene, cleaning supplies, and diapers during the designated time.

Press is asked to attend to take remarks from NDP and BMU at 12 PM CT.

This local effort will be part of an ongoing NDP initiative, the Democrats Care Campaign, to show that Democrats are showing up in the face of Republican cruelty as they cut key programs Nebraskans rely on like SNAP food assistance. The NDP encourages Nebraskans to support their local pantries as prices for groceries and essentials remain high due to inaction by Republicans in office.

WHO:
Nebraska Democratic Party
Black Men United

WHEN:
Thursday, March 6, 2025 – 11 AM to 2 PM

WHERE:
Black Men United Pantry – 4200 North 30th Street, Omaha, NE 68111

WHY:
Grocery prices have not come down despite promises from Trump and the Republicans in Congress including our representative, Don Bacon, who voted to take funds from Medicaid and SNAP and, instead, use tax dollars to benefit the wealthy and large corporations. The pending Trump tariffs will undoubtedly raise prices even more. The NDP is partnering with BMU to ensure the community has a safety net with essential items. The NDP encourages all Nebraskans to donate to their local pantries during this state-wide campaign to help communities in both rural and urban Nebraska.
