Town Of Castle Rock News - Help Name the Town’s Newest Neighborhood Park in Plum Creek

Government and Politics

From: Town Of Castle Rock

A fitting name may be inspired by nearby geography, flora or fauna, or by a local historical figure. It could be influenced by something else altogether.

Whatever comes to mind, the Town wants to know your thoughts regarding what to call its next neighborhood park being built just north of Emerald Drive, adjacent to the Plum Creek Golf Club.

Thanks to community input and feedback, the design for the 7.6-acre park includes half-court basketball, a shade structure, a four-season plumbed restroom, pickleball courts, plaza areas with seating, bocce ball courts and space for other yard games. Two playgrounds - one for ages 2 to 5, and one for ages 5 to 12 - a boulder play structure, a looped walking path, walkway lighting and a new parking lot round out the planned amenities at the park.

Share your name ideas and the reasons behind your suggestions, or provide your feedback on a list of potential names online at CRgov.com/FutureParks. Input will be collected through Sept. 29.

Submitted Ideas will be summarized and taken to an appointed naming committee for recommendations to Town Council. The Town’s facility-naming criteria say the name should foster a sense of community and small-town character; heighten awareness of Town history; celebrate the natural environment; call attention to points of pride in the community; and/or call attention to people, events and geography that have shaped the Town.

This project is being funded through the Parks and Recreation Capital Fund generated by impact fees charged to developers to help ensure that growth pays for growth. Construction began earlier this month and is expected to be complete by fall 2024.
