From: Town Of Castle Rock

Public art means many things to people. The Town of Castle Rock wants to hear from residents to ensure that public art and programming reflect the community’s values and desires.

Since 2020, the Public Art Commission has been working to create a Public Art Strategic Plan that will expand upon the vision and goals of the Town’s 2007 Public Art Master Plan and 2017 Public Art Plan. The strategic plan will set objectives to ensure art and cultural offerings continue to enhance Castle Rock's quality of life.

To create the draft strategic plan, the commission issued an online survey, completed on-the-street and in-depth stakeholder interviews, and held a master planning workshop. Before this strategic plan is adopted by Town Council, the commission would like your feedback on the draft plan.

Provide input on this plan and public art and cultural offerings in Castle Rock at an open house from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7, at the Millhouse at Philip S. Miller Park, 1375 W. Plum Creek Parkway. You may also complete an online questionnaire at CRgov.com/PublicArtPlan by Tuesday, Sept. 19.

A group of appointed community volunteers, the Public Art Commission works to create community vibrancy with art reflecting the Town’s charm, heritage and beauty. The Town presently has nearly 40 pieces of public art funded primarily by the Philip S. Miller Trust Fund.

The commission expects to seek Town Council approval of the Public Art Strategic Plan in fall 2023. Once approved, the final plan will be available at CRgov.com/PublicArtPlan.
