"Thank you for your continued partnership and support during today's safety event. The Hold Status has been released by the Erie Police Department and normal building activities have resumed.

Today's incident was prompted by a tip about a student in potential distress and did not involve a threat to the school. Law enforcement and school staff very quickly located the student identified in the tip and the Hold Status was lifted once they were able to determine that there was no longer a need for the Hold Status.

As a reminder, when a school goes on a Hold Status, students and staff remain in their classrooms so that staff and first responders can maintain privacy to support students or staff who may be experiencing distress or a medical issue.

Student safety is our highest priority and I would like to commend our students, staff, and teachers for following all safety protocols. I would also like to thank our law enforcement partners for their quick response. Our strong partnerships have a tremendous impact on supporting student safety and well-being."

Police are in contact with a student who reported self-harm and investigating.
Police will remain on scene.
