For the Victims: Volunteers in Training

This month, 11 Erie volunteers began a 40-hour training to become victim advocates. The regional training was spearheaded by Erie Police’s Victim Services/Restorative Justice Manager, Valerie Greenfield. Agencies from Brighton, Thornton, Northglenn, and Longmont also participated in the training. Interested in joining the momentum? Another regional training is coming soon! For more, visit www.erieco.gov/2019/Victim-Services.

Public Comment Needed for Grant Applications

The Town of Erie is a partner in four applications to the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) grant program to establish the Transportation Improvement Program for fiscal years 2024-2027. Erie is partnered with Boulder County on one application and with Weld County for four projects (one project spans both Boulder and Weld counties). DRCOG is currently soliciting comment from the public on desired priorities for funding. All comments received will be presented to the respective county forums, which will recommend a list of projects to be funded to the DRCOG Board of Directors.

All comments must be received by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, and can be submitted directly on a web map on the DRCOG website. Users will be able to launch an interactive map to see the submitted applications and provide feedback.

Spring Youth Sport Registration

The registration deadline is fast approaching for spring youth sports (flag football, soccer, and softball)! Deadline to register for this season is Sunday, Feb. 26! We also need parent volunteer coaches for this season. Register children for sports online on Amilia and email [email protected] if you are interested in coaching.

Apply to be on the Historic Preservation Advisory Board

The Town of Erie Historic Preservation Advisory Board (HPAB) is looking for a new member! The HPAB meets to discuss issues related to the preservation of historic structures, documents, and artifacts in Erie, and reports to the Board of Trustees in an advisory capacity. Commissioners are appointed by the Board of Trustees in staggered four-year terms. Interested in preserving a little history? Applications can be submitted through Feb. 17 - apply today!

Weather Spotter Training

Become better prepared for severe weather by attending Weld County’s free in-person weather spotter training class. Learn from a National Weather Service meteorologist about what causes severe weather and gain insight on weather terminology and characteristics that you can use to keep you and your family safe. At the conclusion of the class, you’ll have an opportunity to become a certified Weather Spotter if you choose. The class will be held Tuesday, March 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Events Room of the Weld County Administration Building, located at 1150 O St. in Greeley. While the class is free, registration is required. Seating is limited to 70, so don’t delay. Register online or call the Weld County Office of Emergency Management at 970-304-6540.
