From: Town Of EriePublic Art Installation Approved by Board of Trustees
On Tuesday, Jan. 24, the Board of Trustees approved the concept for a new, vibrant art piece, the first installation in Erie for the Public Art Group.
In total, 105 artists applied to have their art installed in the Town. The Public Art Group considered each application and design in depth and narrowed the choices to three finalists. Those three artists were then invited to develop a concept for the art piece within 60 days. On Jan. 12, the Public Art Group conducted interviews with the finalists and after a group discussion, Wings to Dreams by Dixie Friend Gay was selected as Erie's first public art piece by the volunteer group. Installation of the piece is expected sometime in the fall of 2023.

Outstanding Resident Award – Christina Pisano
This month, the Board of Trustees honored resident Christina Pisano as the ‘2022 Outstanding Resident’ following a process in which the staff Leadership Team spent quality time reading over many submissions from the community. Some remarks from her nominations include, “She does not just elevate the Town of Erie, but also the individuals that make it up.” and “She is a pillar of our community… She is a gem of Erie!” To watch the presentation of this award, view the recording of the meeting. Nominations for the 2023 Outstanding Resident are already being accepted and will be open through Oct. 23. Charter Commission Weekly Polls
The elected Home Rule Charter Commission, which is in charge of drafting a new governing Charter document for the Town of Erie, is requesting engagement from the community. Each Monday, the Commission plans to post a set of new questions (two or three questions each week) that they hope residents will weigh in on to help guide the creation of this document. The first set of polling questions has been posted to the webpage at www.erieco.gov/chartercommission and also posted to social media. This first set of questions deals with Town vs. City, odd vs. even year elections, and the creation of districts/wards or at-large elections. Poll questions will close each Sunday, but an archive of past questions will remain available for viewing.
