From: Treasure Coast Food BankDear Friend,
This fall the Farm Bill is up for renewal. The Farm Bill is a sweeping piece of legislation governing major agricultural sectors such as conservation, research, energy, nutrition, and more. It supports and protects food production, natural resources, and food benefits to low-income families. As such, Congress will be debating the policies and budgets of our nutrition programs- adjusting qualifications, work requirements, and other rules expanding or limiting access.
This renewal process provides the opportunity to improve and strengthen nutrition programs like TEFAP, SNAP, and CSFP, which work in tandem with food banks like ours to assist individuals and families facing hunger.
In 2021, 53 million people turned to the charitable food sector. As food banks nationwide face increasing demands, the 2023 Farm Bill is one of the most important pieces of legislation passing through Congress this session.
By staying informed and supporting a strong Farm Bill, we can ensure that our neighbors and
food banks continue to receive the support they need!
