Museums Advocacy Day 2023
Museum professionals and supporters from across the country are uniting as one voice for Museums Advocacy Day to make the critical case for museums directly to their representatives, taking part in advocacy training, and meeting with members of Congress.
According to the American Alliance of Museums, 97% of Americans believe museums are educational assets for their communities, and 96% want federal museum funding to be maintained or increased.

Love Is Memory Workshop
Thursday, March 2
Noon to 2 p.m.
Love is Memory is a free community engagement workshop presented by Wichita artist Micala Gingrich Gaylord in conjunction with The Big Read 2023, a program across several Wichita institutions designed to revitalize the role of reading in American culture and engage participants with ideas about active aging.
This workshop will focus on the way objects house memories, and will be held from noon to 2 p.m., Thursday, March 2 at the Ulrich Museum. Elders are invited to bring a small object they are willing to leave behind that represents a memory of love. The object should fit on an 8"-by-8" board. Attendees will also make a short audio recording about their object during the workshop. The object and voice recording will become part of a larger community art piece which will be on view in the exhibition Micala Gingrich Gaylord: Love Is Memory, April 1-May 20 at the Ulrich Museum of Art.

Have you shared your Ulrich memories with us yet?
Our 50th anniversary is right around the corner (in 2024) and we're planning lots of great exhibitions and events to celebrate the Museum's excellence. One thing we are working on is collecting memories from folks who have been connected to the Ulrich over the years. Whether you are a present or past employee, a donor, volunteer, student, or general visitor, we'd love to hear your favorite memories of the Ulrich. We've created this webpage, which has a form on it, to help you share your stories. The memories we collect will be shared throughout our 50th anniversary celebrations and might even end up in a book we're putting together. We'd love to hear your stories.
