Welcome to Another Addition of
NoHo Strong!!

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!!
Next Tuesday, we celebrate our nation's 256th birthday!!

This is our final week of Pride Month...but that's ok...we should celebrate LGBTQA every day!

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining"!

A Word...Or Two...Or Three...

Oh No!! My Cell Ran Out Of Juice!

We've all been in this dilemma...you've become stranded, or you've lost power for some time, or you've lost your charger...and our lifeline to the world...our cell phone...is about to die.

Well...you always have your laptop...weeelll, no, not exactly. The laptop is out of juice too.

I know for me, my building is over a hundred years old and the infrastructure is old too, therefore, my building has lost power numerous times. I live close to Sunset Blvd., a major thoroughfare, and invariably, a telephone pole with a transformer will be the unwanted victim of an accident. You guessed it...that leads to me losing power, sometimes for many hours.

It has always been a fear of mine that my phone will completely run out of power in these situations.

But these situations are easy in comparison...

It's summertime, the weather is finally getting warmer, Nature beckons, and there are many campsites and trails that await us! God forbid you become stranded...or something worse - and your phone has run out power!

But never fear...clever ways to charge your phone by "unconventional means" is here...

Here are some tips on how to charge a phone without a charger...

Use power bank/ portable chargers

All modern power banks have enough capacity to fully charge your smartphone. All you need to do is to plug the charging cable into it and into your phone and turn it on. Portable chargers are a savior when traveling.

Do remember to keep your power bank charged so that you are able to charge your phone when the power is out.

Use laptop’s USB port

All you’ll need is a USB port compatible with your device to charge your phone without a charger. You can either plug your phone into your laptop for a quick charge or find alternate USB ports that can help you charge your phone to make emergency calls. Some smartphones charge faster if you switch to ‘flight mode’ while charging.

Use AAA battery

If you are thinking how to charge a phone without a charger, then this method will surely work. Unlike the power that comes from the wall outlet, the power in common household batteries is no different from that used by your cell phone or camera battery. Remove the battery from the device. Now, get some AA, AAA, or 9-volt batteries. Then, ascertain the positive and negative connectors on each battery. The final step is to match voltage of your battery which need to charge and other battery

Tip: Do not use this method to charge iPhones.

Use hand-crank chargers

A great alternative to portable chargers and power banks, hand-crank chargers do not demand any electrical power at all. All they require is a little hand workout. To charge your phone using a hand-crank charger, plug your charging cable into the charger and into your phone, and keep cranking until you have reached a usable charge.

Use your car

Using your car as an option is a no-brainer. If you have a charger that plugs into your car, then you can easily charge your phone while the car idles. Get a car charge that suits your handset and you’re good to go.Just remember to do it safely.

Use eco-friendly solar-powered charger

If you are wondering how to charge your phone without electricity, then solar-powered chargers are a safe bet. It only requires sunlight to work. It is the sunlight that charges a battery in the unit, which can then be used to charge the phone. There are some solar chargers that charge the phone directly. You can simply plug your charging cable into the charger and into your phone.

Use wireless charger

What happens when the phone’s battery starts running low and you happen to be caught in the middle of a load shedding period? You use wireless chargers. This solution for how to charge a phone without a charger only works for smartphones that support wireless charging. This method is indeed the easiest of all and requires no commitment from your end. Just put phone on the charging pad., and wait for the wireless charger to do its magic.

Use wind turbines

Another way to power your cell phone is with the wind. Wind turbine technology has come a longway, and you can recharge your phone with the wind with the K3 Wind and Solar Mobile Charger. Although they are hard to find, the truth is that portable wind turbines prove quite useful in charging phone without a charger or even when there is an electricity outage.

Apart from the above-mentioned charging methods, there are many experimental ways that you can charge your smartphone – using your body heat or cooking heat, electricity converter, landline, etc. Do you know of any other method to charge a mobile besides using direct electricity? Please share your views and insights right here! Do let us know how you charge your phone without a charger.

So...hopefully, these tips give you a little peace of mind, knowing you have a Plan "B" just in case you..."run out of juice...' Stay tuned for more tips in future commentaries!

Thanks Hagit, Brad and Angelou! We certainly appreciate you!!

National Handshake Day

From business deals to sportsmanship, a good handshake conveys confidence, warmth and professionalism, making a lasting first impression!

The handshake is an important mode of communication in many cultures, and National Handshake Day aims to celebrate this grasping of hands!

History of National Handshake Day

Handshakes may have originated as a sign of peaceful intention among two people, since shaking hands means that the hand can’t hold a weapon. Or, the handshake had begun as a gesture of promise or oath, like the sealing of a bond. One of the earliest renderings of a handshake is dated to 900 BC between the kings of Assyria and Babylon.

In many cultures around the world, handshakes have continued to represent a sense of being welcomed, accepted, honored, respected and at peace. Different countries and cultures may have varying customs surrounding the handshake. For instance, sometimes a handshake comes along with a kiss, and in other places men will shake hands but women will not.

Founded in 2005 by Miryam Roddy, National Handshake Day was meant to promote the importance of the handshake as a way to make a good impression. Roddy, a professional development coach, says that handshakes are a gesture that is key to making first impressions and growing professional relationships.

In a few hours...we'll all be at the "Mega Mixer, right? :) That'll be a great place to "practice" our handshake skills, especially considering it's "National Handshake Day!"

But, if your not able to make the "mega" event, just reach out your hand, say hello with a sturdy grip, and make a great new connection!
