Matt Christie has a solo exhibition at The Arvada Center titled Between Then and Now, on view now through May 5. Christie has contributed to the Colorado art scene as both artist and education for over 40 years. His work combines a dynamic array of nature-based references along with a saturated color palette to produce a body of work both striking and personal. There is an opening reception this Friday, April 5 from 6-9 PM, and an artist talk next Thursday, April 11 at 5:30 PM.
Brian Comber is featured in a solo exhibition at BMoCA’s Canyons Gallery at Frasier. Reverie is a collection of watercolors and etchings that highlight the vibrancy of nature and the excitement of botanic rebirth. The exhibition is on view through August 18, 2024 and is open to the general public Tuesday - Sunday from 11am - 5pm. More info here.
Jamie Gray was selected by the Colorado Business Committee for the Arts (CBCA) to be the 2024 Business for the Arts Awards artist. For this commission, she created 12 unique hand-held sculptures that were presented to companies and individuals for their outstanding business partnerships and engagement with the arts during CBCA’s annual celebration and fundraiser on March 12, 2024. CBCA (along with sponsorship by Health One) produced this short video about Gray's creative process and the making of the awards.
Cara Enteles' MTA Arts Design large scale public art project, “Commuting Through Nature”, installed at the Merillon Avenue LIRR train station, will be featured in the book “Contemporary Art Underground”, now available from the monacellipress & phaidonpress. Written by MTA Arts & Design director Sandra Bloodworth and deputy Cheryl Hageman, the publication tells the stories behind the program’s more than 100 artworks installed in the MTA system since 2015. Enteles’ work is created in ceramic glass and creates much of the structure of the station.
Robert Mellor had a solo in December at Julie Nester Gallery in Park City, UT. The show opened with two receptions, an invite only preview reception with an artist's talk, and a show opening reception for the general public. Additionally, Mellor just presented a garden-themed body of work at his exhibition in Baton Rouge at Ann Connelly Fine Art.
Farida Hughes has a solo exhibition, Embedded Poetries, opening on April 26 at Artspace in Richmond, Virginia. She will be exhibiting works completed at a recent residency in Vermont. The exhibition runs through May 18.
Andrea Schwartz Gallery will be exhibiting Heather Patterson and Elaine Coombs work at the San Francisco Art Fair this month. The Fair is on view April 25-28 at the Fort Mason Pavillion. See website for fair ticket information.
Kevin Hoth has a photograph called White Sands 01 in the 2024 Members Juried Exhibition at the Center for Photographic Art in Carmel, CA. The show was juried by Catherine Couturier, and runs April 20 to June 2, 2024. Additionally, Hoth’s piece “Hope for the Future” has been published in the most recent print issue of Analog Forever Magazine. The magazine is the world’s premier journal of contemporary film and analog photography.
Katie Kindle is now a published author with one of her recent poems related to her art, published in the book "Writing by Heart".
"It is difficult to say what came first, the poem or the art, since the actions in my life I am most passionate about are so intertwined and inspire each other."
Gloria Pereyra's “The Strange Tale of a Bird in a Looking Glass” will be exhibited at FotoNostrum Gallery in Barcelona, Spain, April 4-21, 2024. This series was presented on silk organza over gold leaf by Walker Fine Art at the Peripheral Contemplation exhibition in 2023.
Jane Fulton Alt’s "Smoking Log" will be included in the exhibition, The Paula Tagnarelli Collection at the Maine Museum of Photographic Arts in Portland, Maine from April 5 - May 25, 2024.
