Join us for a free screening of Paris is Burning, a stunning documentary that chronicles the New York drag scene in the 1980s. Following the screening, hear from Aquarius Funkk, a Maine-raised performance artist who has been active in the drag/ballroom scene in Maine, across the country, and abroad. This screening is inspired by the exhibition Come Closer: Selections from the Collection, 1978-1994. It is on view until November 26th, 2023 at the Colby College Museum of Art.

Join Maine Master Naturalists Harry Vayo and Serena Sanborn on a walk at Quarry Road to explore the ways nature gets ready for winter. Explore ferns, leaf change, and thoughts on migration. Mini sketchbooks and pencils will be provided for all participants.

Waterville Creates invites proposals from individuals or groups for temporary outdoor public art installations for display in Downtown Waterville between June 1 – October 31, 2024. The intent of this call is to identify and fund one or two significant, highly visible public art installations designed to inspire joy and curiosity and invite engagement by visitors of all ages.

A century of Maine life filmed by Maine people, telling stories of places, livelihoods, and family loved in times gone by. Filmed over the past 100 years, these home movies tell the story of northern lives– our seasons, our ways. Primary sources of home movies speak for people no longer alive, who loved their families, the woods and lakes, and the shores of Maine. The filmmakers mined the collections of Northeast Historic Film, a nonprofit film archive preserving amateur films. In conversation with Maine-based filmmaker Siân Evans.

A singer, composer, and actor, Lyle Lovett has broadened the definition of American music in a career that spans 14 albums. Coupled with his gift for storytelling, the Texas-based musician fuses elements of country, swing, jazz, folk, gospel, and blues in a convention-defying manner that breaks down barriers.
LEO KOTTKE
Acoustic guitarist Leo Kottke was born in Athens, Georgia, but left town after a year and
a half. Raised in 12 different states, he absorbed a variety of musical influences as a
child, flirting with both violin and trombone, before abandoning Stravinsky for the guitar
at age 11.
