In The Bucknoll Cottage Chronicles, author Mary Lowengard reveals herself to be a long-time West Hartford resident on the first page. On January 24, 2024 she returns to the West Hartford Public Library to introduce her publishing debut. At this author talk, Mary will read from the book, and describe what led her to write it as well as the agonies and ecstasies of self-publishing. A Q&A will follow. Wednesday, 1/24 at 6:30PM.
Winter Reading Challenge Book Chat
A gathering for Winter Reading Challenge participants to chat about the books they've been reading and enjoy a hot chocolate and toppings bar. Tuesday, 1/16 at 6PM and Thursday, 1/18 at 2PM.

Universal Declaration of Human Rights
On Wednesday, 1/17 at 5:30PM, mark this historic milestone as we celebrate 75 years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This event will feature a unique and powerful reading of the declaration in various languages, symbolizing its global impact and the unity in a diverse world striving for human dignity and equality. Be a part of an inspiring gathering that honors our shared history and ignites a continued passion for human rights for all! This event takes place at the West Hartford Town Hall Auditorium, 50 South Main Street.
We Love Taylor Swift Party!
Grades 6-12: Are you ready for it? Join us on Saturday, 2/3 at 10:30AM for a Taylor Swift-themed party where we will listen to her music, make beaded bracelets, decorate Valentine’s cookies, and do Taylor Swift-themed trivia! Registration required. Now open to ages 10+, too.
Tween Tuesday: Thumbtack Dragon Eggs
Grades 4-6. Calling all Tweens! Join us for an afternoon of crafting on Tuesday, 1/16 at 4PM. This month we'll be making dragon eggs. Registration required.
Mini Movers
Ages 1-5. Spend a fun filled morning of music with toddlers and preschoolers. Dance to great children’s music, play musical instruments, and swing scarves. Registration required and meets on Wednesdays, 1/17, 24, 31 & 2/7 at 11:30AM.
Family Storytime
All ages. A storytime with stories and music for the whole family where children of all ages are welcome! No registration required. Meets on Thursday, 1/18 at 10:15AM at Bishops Corner.
