Friday, June 14th, 2024

5:00 PM - 11:00 PM Gates 1 and 2 open for vendors, participants, and campers to setup. Check in at Festival Office. Late or early check-ins must be prearranged.

7:00 PM – 10:30 PM Gates 1 and 2 open for public concert goers.

Main Entertainment Stage:

7:15 PM – 8:00 PM Faire May

8:00 PM - 8:15 PM Starfire Entertainment

8:15 PM – 9:00 PM Kinnfolk

9:00 PM – 9:15 PM Starfire Entertainment

9:15 PM – 10:30 PM The Devils Brigade

11:00 PM Gate Closed. Late Friday or early Saturday check-ins must be prearranged by calling 304-641-8770

Saturday, June 15th, 2024

Main Gate Festival Entrance:

5:00 AM- 8:00 AM Gates open for 5K, Highland games athletes, vendors, clans, and participants to register for events and start setup. 5K registration at Laurel Pavilion.
Information and check-ins at Festival Office.

8:00 AM- 5:00 PM Gates open to the public. Limited activities until 9:00 AM. Tickets available at the gate. Cash or credit/debit cards accepted at entrance.

Parade/Games Field:

8:00 AM- 12:00 PM Heavy Athletics competition begins at Main Field. Traditional Celtic competitions test the strength and skill of our kilted competitors. Various competitions such as the stone throw, sheaf toss, hammer throw and caber toss take place throughout the day in varying order depending on the condition of the ground and the number of competitors.

12:00 PM- 12:15 PM Parade of Tartans. Clans and Bands. The Clans, escorted by the Pipe and Drum Bands lead the procession onto the parade field, with a multitude of Clans present, followed by all the attending Bagpipe bands marching onto the field in formation and playing several traditional tunes.

12:15 PM– 12:30 PM Massed Bands. Hear the stirring sounds of pipers and drummers echoing through the surrounding valley. The National Anthems.

All activities will pause for the Opening Ceremony and the playing of the National Anthems.

12:30 PM- 4:00 PM: Heavy Athletics competition resumes.

4:00 PM- 4:15 PM Awards and recognition ceremony. Winners of the Honor Band and Honor Clan for 2024 will be announced.

4:15 PM- 4:30 PM Special military tribute and final Massed Bands performance. All the participating bagpipe bands march onto the field in formation and play an Amazing Grace Tribute to our heroes before marching off in formation.

All activities will pause for the Amazing Grace Tribute. Including beer sales.

4:30 PM- 6:00 PM Heavy Athletics competition resumes.

6:00 PM- 6:45 PM- Kids Highland Games and Tug-of-War events at Main Field. Kids vs the Heavy Athletes. Open to all children 15 and under. Signups at the Festival Office throughout the day. Kids games will begin immediately after the heavy games end.

Vendors Market:

9:00 AM– 12:30 PM Vendors Market open with vendors offering a wide variety of Celtic goods, books, music, clothing and jewelry.

1:00 PM- Vendors Market reopen with vendors offering a wide variety of Celtic goods, books, music, clothing and jewelry.

Clan Village:

9:00 AM– 12:00 PM Clan Village opens to the public. Come and find which Clan your family name is associated with and find out more about your extended family in the old country and its role in Celtic history.

12:00 PM- 12:30 PM Parade of Clans and Bands. Clan Village closed.

12:30 PM- Clan Village reopens.

Dance Stage:

9:00 AM– 9:30 AM Opening remarks. Announcements and sponsor recognition.

9:30 AM- 10:15 AM Kinnfolk.

10:30- 10:45 Starfire Entertainment

11:00 AM- 11:30 AM Highland Dancing. West Virginia Highland Dancers. Demonstrations in multiple categories of traditional Scottish dances, like the Sword Dance and Highland Fling.

11:30 AM- 12:00 PM Appalachian Clogging. Lincoln County Cloggers. Demonstrations in traditional Appalachian clogging.

12:00 PM- 12:15 PM Parade of Tartans. Clans and Bands.

12:15 PM– 12:30 PM Massed Bands. Hear the stirring sounds of pipers and drummers echoing through the surrounding valley. The National Anthems.

12:30AM- 12:45 PM Opening Ceremony and Announcements. Times between 11:00 and 12:00 are not set in stone but the start and end time should be kept as close as possible.

12:45 PM- 1:15 PM Cutting of the Haggis

1:15 PM– 1:30 PM Ladies Haggis Toss. A perennial fan favorites. Ladies of all ages are invited to sign up (at the Festival Office) and compete for prizes. Best of two throws of a 2-pound sandbag (haggis) is measured for distance. Longest throw.

2:00 PM- 2:30 PM Highland Dancing. West Virginia Highland Dancers. Demonstrations in multiple categories of traditional Scottish dances, like the Sword Dance and Highland Fling.

2:30 PM- 3:00 PM Appalachian Clogging. Lincoln County Cloggers. Demonstrations in traditional Appalachian clogging.

3:00 PM- 3:15 PM Starfire Entertainment.

3:15 PM- 4:00 PM Pretty Pet Parade and show

4:00 PM- 4:15 PM Awards and Recognition Ceremony.

4:15 PM- 4:30 PM Mass Bands Amazing Grace Tribute.

4:45 PM- 5:15 PM $100.00 Four Leaf Clover Hunt. Kids 15 and under hunt for special four-leaf clovers for fantastic rewards.

Kids’ Corner:

9:00 AM- 12:00 AM Get your picture with a Scottish Princess. Celtic stories, dancing, facepainting, build your own fairy garden, fun and games, and unicorns too. A free activity for the little ones.

This is a rain or shine event.

Please bring a chair or lawn blanket. Seating is limited.
