VIRGINIA – The Democratic Party of Virginia is launching a new series to highlight the tally of definitive losses (and “wins”) on Winsome Earle-Sears’ flailing, failing campaign for Governor.

This week, Sears’ campaign hit a snag when two new challengers entered the chaotic GOP primary that’s getting messier by the day. Sears also again defended Donald Trump’s attacks on Virginia workers with resources that lead nowhere. 

SETTLING THIS WEEK’S SCORE 

Winsome’s Wins: 

• Yes (One More Time To Be Safe) from Youngkin: While Republicans across the Commonwealth are jumping from the Sears ship, she can rest assured that she has Glenn Youngkin’s backing after he issued an awkward second endorsement of Sears following her terrible, horrible, no good week.

• Out with the Old, In with the Failed: Last week, former Virginia Trump Campaign Chair John Fredericks said Sears fired her strategy firm, Poolhouse—the same firm behind Glenn Youngkin in 2021—and replaced them with Coldspark, the media firm behind Nikki Haley’s failed presidential bid. It’s what she wanted…right? 

Winsome’s Losses:   

•  A Gutter Ball with Bolling: Former two-term Virginia GOP Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling blasted Sears’ campaign, writing on social media that she “is not a strong statewide candidate.” 

• 404 Loss Not Found: After supporting Trump’s plans to slash Virginia jobs and allowing it to happen, Sears shared helpful online resources – broken links that led to “404 Page Not Found” website errors.

• At LaRock Bottom, Still Chasing the Governorship: This week, Sears hit LaRock bottom when former Republican Delegate Dave LaRock  and former Republican State Senator Amanda Chase entered the Republican primary because of Sears’ “defects as a candidate” and “pretty serious issues with her campaign.” Her once uncontested primary is erupting in chaos and infighting. 

And with Winsome, it’s Virginians who stand to lose the most

• With a GOP primary field focused on causing chaos, proving their loyalty to Trump, and fighting with each other instead of fighting for the Commonwealth, Virginians will lose the most.  

• No matter how much the GOP field fights, they all agree on the same radical agenda backing ongoing attacks on Virginia jobs and workers, defunding public schools, and ripping away reproductive rights.
