Government and Politics

MADISON, Wis. — On the 52nd anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Executive Director Sarah Abel released the following statement:

“52 years after Roe and three days into the second Trump term, it’s clear Republicans are still intent on finishing the job they started—threatening to enact a nationwide ban on abortion without even passing a law, restrict access to contraception and IVF, and surveil women’s pregnancies. In Wisconsin, we’re fighting to restore the freedoms Roe guaranteed for nearly five decades, and this fight continues on April 1, when we will defeat extreme Republican politician Brad Schimel and protect the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s pro-freedom majority. Wisconsin’s 1849 criminal abortion ban is being fought out in court right now, and we cannot afford to give Brad Schimel the opportunity to take our state even further back in time.”
