Marli Miller, a geological sciences faculty member at the University of Oregon since 1997, is a geologist, photographer and author of the new second edition of Roadside Geology of Oregon. Her work showcases the state’s splendor while also helping enthusiasts understand geologic processes at work. She will be available to sign her book at the Agate Festival.
1:30p.m.
William Orr, "Assembling Oregon" . The talk shows how Oregon was created and highlights mineral for each of the 10 deposits areas and how they relate to the geology.

Kent Gibson, Winner of the 2022 national Katherine Palmer award for avocational Paleontology, Oregon Coast fossil hunter Kent Gibson will talk about how to identify fossils, how he got started finding fossils, and his subsequent donations to the Smithsonian Natural History Museum and the University of Oregon.
1:30 p.m.
Doug Sestrich, has been a Central Coast Beach Ranger for the past seven years, working for Oregon State Parks for nearly 20 years. Originally from Pennsylvania, Doug discovered the Oregon Coast after graduating from Penn State and fell in love with surfing, agate hunting, and mushroom foraging. He makes his home in Waldport and can’t imagine living any place else.
