Shred your personal documents for free at the City’s 6th annual Shred Fest at one of 10 locations citywide. Free personal paper shredders, donated by Staples, will be given to the first five people to arrive at each location. In addition, participants will receive identity theft prevention tips. The City encourages New Yorkers to bring mail and other documents that contain personal information–such as bank statements, paycheck stubs and credit card applications–to be shredded by mobile shred trucks and disposed of securely. All shredded paper will be recycled. This event is hosted by the Department of Consumer Affairs and the Mayor’s Office of the Criminal Justice Coordinator in cooperation of the Department of Parks & Recreation, the Department of Sanitation and the Municipal Credit Union.
This event is FREE and open to the public. For more information and a list of all locations, please visit nyc.gov/shredfest or call 311.
