Mission:
To cultivate an arts-rich community
About Us:
Incorporated in 1993, the Adams County Arts Council has evolved from a small group of optimistic organizers into a 500-member nonprofit agency supporting artistic efforts throughout the county’s schools and communities.
The ACAC board and membership look with pride at our growing list of accomplishments:
Our Arts in Education programming has brought musicians, graphic artists, a videographer, a Flamenco dancer and a dulcimer maker into our schools. The annual Recyclable Art contest and the Adams County Traveling Children’s Theater Troupe are specifically designed for children.
Gettysburg’s Rec. Park Amphitheater has a one-of-a-kind ceramic tile mural backdrop, designed by artist Lynette King with a host of area senior center members, and offered to Adams County as a lasting legacy.
ACAC was awarded the only Pennsylvania Millennium grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, with which we hired composer Robert Maggio to write a new piece of music celebrating the county’s Bicentennial. South Mountain Echoes debuted July 4, 2000.
The STAR Grant – Supporting The Arts Regionally – provides financial support to arts organizations in the county such as the Brass Band Festival, Music, Gettysburg! and its Class Notes series, Sunday in the Park concerts, the Heritage Festival, and more.
The Adams County Arts Council, will feature exhibits by metalsmith and artist, Judy Pyle, photography by Liz Willson and a collaborative show of mixed media, woodworking and raku by Josh Fidler, Wendy Heiges, Shawn Heiges, Ashley Pieper and Ritch…
