Adapt A Vet, a 501(c)3, improves the quality of life of 70-100% disabled veterans living in Central Texas by adapting homes
...to accommodate their disabilities and service animals. Formed in July of 2015, the organization works with community construction partners to transform the homes of 36 veterans per year. This process offers so much more than a refreshed home. It frees up space for them, and their families, to focus on the future.
There are 212,344 veterans living in this part of Texas. Of that number, 28,363 are 70-100% disabled. We estimate that 1,680... of the disabled vets are in homes that need to be adapted.
Adapt A Vet works with community partners to provide ADA-like adaptations for 36 veterans living in the San Antonio area per year.
Adapt A Vet adaptations accommodate not only the veteran's' disabilities, but also their service animals.
Adapt A Vet provides adaptations to 70% - 100% VA Rated Disabled veterans who have been honorably discharged or retired from US Armed Forces with current homes that require adaptation.
All veterans who receive adaptations are asked to give back to the community by either volunteering at the San Antonio Military Medical Center or speaking at a local school.
