AFS Intercultural Programs USA is a non-profit program organization for high school students. Every year we send approximately 1,600 American students abroad and we receive about 2,500 foreign exchange students in the US eager to learn about the American culture. We rely on volunteer families to welcome them into their hearts, homes and communities.

Hosting an AFS student is a great opportunity to learn about another culture as well as to share our own with others. Host families and students receive the support of a network of community-base AFS volunteers and staff throughout the students' year in the US. We have some remarkable students coming to Western Maryland from places like Belgium, Germany, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia and Brazil, amogst others.
