The Alexander Local School District includes the communities of Albany, New Marshfield, and Shade. The district is comprised of a single Prek - 12 complex located on a 40-acre site opposite Lake Snowden on Rt. 50/32 and currently has approximately 1634 students. The Jr. High/High School serves approximately 752 students in grades 7 - 12, and the Elementary School consisting of grades PreK - 6 has an enrollment of approximately 882. The district encompasses approximately 169 square miles. Daily transportation involves routing 29 buses throughout the district.
A professional staff of 130 teachers and administrators are dedicated to providing the students of Alexander with a quality educational experience. Professional development is considered an important component of continued teacher education. The average level of experience of our teaching staff is 14.6 years and 69% have master's degrees or training beyond a bachelor's degree. The student/teacher ratio in grades K-6 is one teacher to 21 students. We also invite professional interns from Ohio University into our classrooms in order to broaden the learning experiences for all involved.
The Alexander support staff consists of IT personnel, paraprofessionals, bus drivers, cooks, custodians, mechanics, maintenance and secretaries. The dedication of our support staff helps us provide your child with a safe and caring educational environment.
