Our purpose is to be a loving family, making, maturing, and equipping disciples to serve in order to glorify God
History:
The Amherst church of Christ was started by seven Christians who were worshipping with a congregation in Lorain. These members decided they wanted to begin a congregation in Amherst. On August 28, 1960, the first meeting of the Amherst church of Christ was held in a refurbished church building at the corner of Forest and Tenney Streets.
Soon thereafter, the men of the congregation began looking for property for the construction of a permanent building. They found 2 ½ acres of land on Washington Street. The building was completed in 1966 and the first event held at the building was the marriage of Frank and Gaye Klingman on November 25, 1966. Since then, we have grown to a congregation of approximately 150 members.
