Anderson is within sight of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and is a morning drive from the Atlantic Ocean beaches of Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand. Anderson County has a strong manufacturing base. Its retail businesses draw shoppers from throughout the region. The city of Anderson, with a population of 25,514 (2000 Census), is the county seat. The county, with a population approaching 180,000 has 777 square miles and includes the cities of Belton, Honea Path, Iva, Pelzer, Pendleton, Starr, West Pelzer and Williamston. Clemson University is just 20 minutes from the city of Anderson, offering a wide variety of sports as well as cultural and educational opportunities.
