Anderson University is a private Christian college in Anderson, Indiana. Founded in 1917 by the Church of God, the university remains affiliated with its founding church and values its heritage and history.

While firmly rooted in the traditions and history of the Church of God, the university has made significant advances in its 93 years, progressing from a Bible training school to a full-fledged liberal arts college and finally to a university offering more than 60 undergraduate majors, as well as graduate programs in business, education, music, nursing, and theology.

Today more than 2,700 students call Anderson University home. Among these, about 2,100 are traditional undergraduates while more than 500 are enrolled in graduate, adult education, and seminary programs. Our students come from almost every state and 41 nations, and represent about 75 religious denominations.

Approximately 98 percent of AU students receive financial aid in a variety of forms, including scholarships, grants, loans, and part-time work-study employment. Students who apply for and receive aid based on financial need receive an average aid package of $20,000.

AU students benefit from the expertise of our 142 faculty members and a low student-to-faculty ratio of 14 to 1. Among tenure-track faculty, 77 percent hold doctorates or other terminal degrees.

Through the support of the Career Development Center, students are able to secure internships that provide skills and training that are valuable to future employers. Students also learn about the job market and gain skills that will help them succeed in their chosen career path.

Anderson University students also have the opportunity to engage in service during their years on campus. In 1964, Anderson University created Tri-S (Study, Serve, Share) to provide opportunities for students to practice their faith in service to a needy world. Since then, about 17,000 students have participated in Tri-S trips, spanning six continents, 102 countries, and 27 states. It is estimated that students contribute more than 19,000 hours of volunteer service annually. Students are equally committed to outreach in the city of Anderson through a variety of local service organizations and campus ministries.

AU has been recognized by US News & World Report as one of America's best colleges and universities for seven consecutive years. In 2011, US News ranked AU among the top-tier institutions in the Regional Universities (Midwest) category. The Princeton Review also has recognized Anderson University as one of the best colleges and universities in the Midwest for 2011.

While the university has long had a strong undergraduate liberal arts curriculum, it has experienced significant growth in the past decade through the establishment of new graduate programs and growth of existing programs. In 2007, the university opened the Anderson University Flagship Center, located at I-69, exit 22. This new facility houses offices and classrooms for many of the university's fastest-growing programs and serves as a convenient location for many students in central Indiana. The university's MBA program is also now offered at several locations in Indianapolis.

In 2006, the university launched it most ambitious capital campaign to date. The $110 million Dreams. Discovery. Direction. campaign will increase endowed funds for student aid, faculty support, and special programs; provide funding for operational costs; and add a number of new facilities to campus, including a University Center that will bring together all aspects of student life, a new recital hall, and a Center for Communication and Performing Arts. Campaign projects already completed include renovation of residence halls; improvements to the athletic facilities, university library, and Fifth Street; and completion of York Seminary Village. As of July, $96 million has been raised toward the campaign goal.
