History:
Antelope Union High School was built in 1952 by D.O. Norton and Son, with Herman Bell as the architect. The land that the school sits on was donated by Mr. Charlie Buckeye.
The original school included the front, north and south academic wings, cafeteria, and the agriculture building. Prior to the addition of the gymnasium, the basketball teams used the Gym at Mohawk School.
Since that time a library wing with additional classrooms, an auditorium, a science building, another academic wing and, an auto mechanics shop have been added. The campus is currently undergoing major renovations which will provide a new vocational building and a new cafeteria to replace existing buildings.
Ira Murphy was the first Principal/Superintendent. He also taught Social Studies and drove the bus when other drivers were not available. The first school board members were Harry H. Moore, Archie E. Perry, Alton Duke, J.C. Carpenter, and W.O. Seale. The first graduation class was in 1953, with 19 seniors graduating. In addition there were 14 Juniors, 13 Sophomores, and 23 Freshman. At that time the school also housed the 7th and 8th grade classes from Wellton with 27 students in grade 8 and 43 students in grade 7.
