About the Marching Generals...
The 133 member Anthony Wayne High School Marching Generals are known throughout the United States as a show band. Their popularity is promoted by their precision dance steps and their exciting music. Their high-stepping moves prompt standing ovations at every performance. The Marching Generals wear a uniform modeled after General Mad Anthony Wayne of the Revolutionary War.
The Generals have appeared in three Orange Bowls, a Citrus Bowl, and a Cotton Bowl, as well as the respective parades for each of the Bowl games. They also performed during Governor George Bush's 2000 Presidential campaign. Other performances include: two Chicago Holiday Parades, three Detroit Holiday Parades, two Windsor Holiday Parades, a Detroit Lions Football halftime show, a Cincinnati Reds pre-game show, and several Disney World Parades, leading Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Parade in 2002. The Marching Generals also have a long standing tradition of performing in festivals and parades across the state of Ohio, as well as pre-game and halftime shows for the University of Toledo, Toledo, Ohio and Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan.
The Anthony Wayne Instrumental Music Department is proud of their well-rounded program that includes these other ensembles: Two performance- oriented jazz bands, a pit band for drama productions, a volunteer pep band of over 85 members, a concert band, a symphonic band, and participation in all of the Ohio Music Educators Associations adjudicated events.
