We are a chapter of NATIONAL ASSISTANCE LEAGUE® a nonprofit, charitable organization of women committed to volunteer service in the community. The chapter originated in 1970 as Assistance Guild of Norman and was chartered the 56th chapter of NATIONAL ASSISTANCE LEAGUE on May 2, 1974, with 58 Active members. Today the chapter has 580 members classified as Active, Provisional, Sustaining, Associate, and Professional, and an auxiliary of 115 ASSISTEENS . Chapter members serve the Norman community by giving their time and financial support to our philanthropic projects. These are OPERATION SCHOOL BELL®, May Fair Arts Festival child and teen activities and entertainment , Learning Readiness, Seniors R&R, Bears for Children, Care Kits and ASK®(ASSAULT SURVIVOR KITS). The annual Christmas Gala and Festival held the weekend before Thanksgiving are chapter fundraisers as well as May Fair art events which is held the first weekend in May. ASSISTANCE LEAGUE returns the net proceeds from the Gala, Festival and May Fair events directly to Norman through funding of these philanthropic projects
