Ballenger Creek Elementary School's mission is "Building a Better Tomorrow by Creating an Environment for Success Today."
Established in an area of townhouse and single-family home subdivisions, BCES saw its opening population double within five years. A large number of our families were new to Frederick County, and the school developed its own culture, evident with the display of five large quilts hanging in the front hallway. Made of squares prepared by BCES families, the quilts demonstrate the diversity within the school as well as a strong sense of community.
Creating an environment for success is our focus. Our goal is that every member of the BCES community will work together to foster an environment of achievement for all students. We want students to develop as lifelong learners who will make a contribution to society. Creating citizens who add value to their communities will result in a better tomorrow for our children, our world and ourselves.
We practice the tenets of Character Counts! - caring, citizenship, fairness, respect, responsibility and trustworthiness. Our school environment also encourages students to take educational risks. We address every student’s strengths and needs, accounting for various styles and abilities and recognizing that children have differences in learning pace and style. Through the use of authentic tasks and problem solving with real-world connections, enhanced by the latest technology, students engage actively in their learning.
BCES draws from the community’s wealth of multicultural backgrounds, careers and leadership skills to achieve our goals for students. By creating a successful collaboration among staff, students, parents and community, we foster a safe, supportive learning environment where the physical, aesthetic, moral and intellectual needs of children can be met with daily success.
