Mission Statement:
The mission of the Barnstable Public School District is to develop lifelong learners and productive/contributing citizens. Guiding principles include the belief that the students, and the needs of the students, are at the core of decision-making. The schools belong to the community and should reflect the high standards and expectations of the residents of Barnstable.
These District efforts shall be based on the following principles:
-All schools and the District shall work together in a cohesive and collaborative manner.
-All schools and the District shall focus on maximizing student achievement and meeting student needs.
-All schools shall have autonomy in decision-making within the parameters of the District’s Guiding Principles, any contractual agreements or charters, and appropriate District policies.
-All schools shall have an open, inclusive governance structure that involves parents, staff and the community in decision-making.
-All schools shall have a high level of accountability based on performance contracts with the District.
-All schools shall receive equitable funding from the District.
