Berkeley School District 87 was founded in 1848 with one school building serving a rural settlement. Today four elementary schools, two middle schools and an administration center serve six suburban communities 16 miles directly west of downtown Chicago. The residential communities of District 87 contain a large number of commercial properties, and the school district serves a diverse population of approximately 2,800 students.
Within the district are a broad range of ethnic, racial, economic and occupational groups. Students, staff and community work together, creating an atmosphere of cooperation and trust--where education is paramount.
To meet the needs and interests of all its students, District #87 offers progressive academic programs and a wide variety of co-curricular activities. Exceptional staff development programs are available to District #87 staff members.
