Blossom Montessori School for the Deaf is the only deaf Montessori school in Florida, and one of only two in the United States.
Blossom was founded in 2003 to provide an innovative and exciting academic environment for children ages 3 through15 who are deaf or hard of hearing. Unlike other traditional deaf programs, Blossom also enrolls children who are hearing and have deaf siblings and/or deaf parents. Class size is small at Blossom (6 - 8 children per room) and communication is 1:1 and is geared to the preference of each child - from American Sign Language (ASL) to spoken English, each child is taught in a language that best fits his or her learning style.
Our mission is to educate deaf and hard of hearing children, their hearing siblings and children of deaf adults (CODA), and prepare them for a lifetime of success in the community. Our vision is to be a premier education and communication center for families with deaf and hard of hearing children in the state of Florida.
As Tampa Bay has the fourth largest concentration of deaf and hard of hearing population in the United States, Blossom is important to the Tampa Bay region and ultimately as a model nationally for educating the deaf and hard of hearing. We serve students not only from Pinellas County, but Hillsborough, Hernando, Pasco and Manatee counties as well.
