MISSION STATEMENT
The test of success is to give our residents and visitors the best possible services in a sustainable manner, in both the short and long term.
Our achievements reflect not only the quality of our employees and services provided, but also our commitment to continue and improve for the future.
The challenge is to manage what is within our control in order to deliver outstanding performance and service consistently.
Good government depends on making a positive impact on the lives of people we touch by striving to operate in an ethical way that does no harm to the environment.
In particular, we monitor Closter's performance with great care and test, on your behalf the way the Borough manages its approach to the operational, financial, environmental and ethical tasks it faces. Our procedures are designed to make sure we have a clear picture our mission as a whole, while at the same time allowing key personnel to exercise the detailed day-to-day judgements involved in running the operation.
These processes must allow a rapid and effective response to change. We must deal with the reality that we are not perfect. Human beings can and do make mistakes. What is important is that systems are in place to manage and control issues as they occur and to ensure that lessons are learned from them.
Operating in the public sector we regularly come under intense scrutiny from a wide range of people. Our residents expect us to be alert and to respond immediately to their problems and requests. The leadership team and all our staff are individually accountable for their judgements and for upholding the laws entrusted to us. Their commitment and enthusiasm, in this diverse government are consistently outstanding.
At all levels we need to attract and retain exceptional people and create an environment in which their talents will flourish.
