About Us:
BARC is a 501c3 non-profit community development corporation (CDC) serving the Brownsville Borough and its neighboring communities in Fayette, Washington, and Greene Counties in Southwestern PA. BARC’s offices are located in the Historic Flatiron Building, located along the Monongahela River and the National Road Heritage Corridor in Brownsville’s Downtown Commercial Historic District. Since 1989, BARC has worked to improve Brownsville’s economy by restoring buildings in the downtown and utilizing other resources in the community. BARC promotes recreational use of the Monongahela River, hosts community festivals, supports local artists, and operates two independent museums. BARC’s mission is to achieve economic development through historic preservation, heritage tourism, outdoor recreation, community stewardship, education, youth advancement and the arts..
