History :
Bryant Chapel Church is now 181 years old as of October 17, 2006. We thank God almighty for the many accompishments and achievements. As far as we were able to determine, Rev. Mustifield Bryant and others founded Bryant Chapel in 1825 through "log cabin prayer meetings and bush-shelter revivals." The church was not affiliated with A.M.E. Zion Conference until later years. The first wooden structure sat in a grove of oak trees about 25 feet west of Main Street. We must be reminded, however, that much of the information about this early history has come down by "word of mouth" rather than factual information.
The oldest written evidence was a Deed of Trust for the present site, dated 1895. On this site Rev. David Braynt and others built Bryant Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. The corner stone was laid in 1903.
