Cabool R-IV School District
The Cabool R-IV School District encompasses approximately 250 square miles in Southwest Texas County and Northeast Douglas County. The largest population center is the City of Cabool with a population of 2,006. There are about 2,600 registered voters living in the district with an adult population of almost 6,000. The district is served by two major highways, US highway 63 divides the district east-west, and US highway 60 divides the district north-south. The district has a student enrollment of almost 820 students in grades kindergarten through twelfth grades.
The economic base of the district is dairy farming, livestock farming, and manufacturing. The major employers in the district and the number of employees include: Dairy Farmers of America(435), Cabool Lease and Transport (305), Kabul Nursing Home and Residential Care Centers (135), R-IV School District (125), Woodpro Cabinetry Inc (110), L & R Industries (30), and the City of Cabool (26).
The district's staff is composed of four administrators, 80 teachers, six paraprofessionals and 40 support staff members. There is little turnover in the professional and support staffs in the school district. The average number of years experience for teachers is 15.8 years and the average teacher's salary is $35,192.
The Cabool R-IV School District is a comprehensive K-12 school district with programs to meet the needs of all of the students of the district. Cabool R-IV Schools were totally accredited by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education during a Missouri School Improvement Program review in the spring of 2001. The district's program begin at an early age. The school district works with 86 families in the Parents as Teachers Program and 54 four and five year olds in a early childhood program. The current district enrollment in grades K-12 is 821 students (elementary 278, middle school 264, and high school 259). The enrollment of the district has been in the 800 range for the past ten years. The free and reduced meal rate in the district is 61.9%.
The school district has a comprehensive curriculum educating two tracks of young people: college bound students and vocational bound students. The school district implemented block scheduling five years ago in the high school and middle school, and a vocational Tech Prep program has been in place in the district for five years. During the 2004 school year the dropout rate was 3.1.
A good rapport exists between the administration, teachers and staff, working together as an educational team. The community has demonstrated support for the school district through participation in two Cabool Educational Summits, Community Advisory Committee, Vocational Advisory Committee, Community drug programs, P.T.O., Athletic Booster Club, and the Band Booster Club.
