The Teacher Adoption Program matches community members with K-12 teachers in need of volunteers. We ask people to volunteer in the classroom/school in the capacity of: reading and math tutors, testing proctors, playground supervisors, crossing guards, mentors for at-risk middle school students, bilingual reading tutors, or to help with teacher preparation work such as photoycopying. We really appreciate a volunteer's regular commitment and ask them to come every week or every other week for 1-2 hours. Teachers are thankful for the support, students benefit from having other caring adults in their lives, and it is fun and deeply gratifying for the volunteers.
