Carrollton Manor Farm is rich in history . Our 200 acre farm is part of the original 10,000 acre land grant of Charles Carroll of Carrollton - the last surviving signor of the Declaration of Independence. It was the home of his granddaughter, Emily McTavish in the mid-1800s. Inscriptions carved in one of our barn doors show subsequent owners...One dated March 1863. Our fields are rich with limestone and the original stone lime kiln is still standing.
In addition to our delicious vegetables, we grow top quality hay and raise thoroughbred race horses.
We are currently accepting memberships for our 2010 Produce CSA. We offer several pick up sites.
You will receive between 8-10 naturally grown vegetables each week. An example of what your box may contain - cucumbers, quart of tomatoes (including a variety of heirlooms), herbs, sweet corn, bag of spinach, lettuce, carrots, squash, potatoes, watermelon -- whatever is ripe for picking. Definitely enough food for a family of 2-4. This year we'll also include a weekly newsletter , customer recipes, stories from the field, and what to expect in the future. The beginning of the year always starts slowly with salad greens, radishes, and onions, but things pick up quickly and tomatoes, corn, and other summer vegetables are offered in abundance.
