About Us
Welcome to the website of a group of dedicated genealogists either living in the heart of Pennsylvania or interested in ancestors who once resided there. The Centre County Genealogical Society held its first meeting in December of 1975 as the Central Pennsylvania Genealogical Society and Library. A few years later, the group's books were donated to the local LDS Church to provide the nucleus of its genealogy library, and our current name was adopted as it better reflected our interests. The society has over 300 active members living around the world. Meetings are held September to June, usually on the first Thursday of the month.
The society, a nonprofit organization, strives to serve its members and the public via informative meetings, a quarterly newsletter, and the publication of various types of county records. We hope that you will find the information contained herein to be useful.
