As the Anasazi period came to a close, and as early as the 14th century, the ancestral Tewa People established pueblos in the general vicinity of today's Abiquiu. Among them, the sites of Poshuouinge, Leaf Water and Tsama remain relatively intact. Visits can be arranged through special educational group tours
