Mission
Supporting vulnerable people so they thrive in safe and loving homes.
About
Child & Family Services of Southwestern Michigan, Inc. originated in 1891 as the Children's Aid Society, which helped hundreds of orphaned children find permanent homes. The 1970's brought a merger, a name change to Child & Family Services of Southwestern Michigan, Inc., and the beginning of an expansion of services.
During the 1980's, many new programs were developed, and CFS consolidated its identity as a full-service agency. In 2004, CFS merged with the Link Crisis Intervention Center adding 24 hour crisis services to children and families to our continuum of care. In 2005, CFS merged with West Michigan Guardianship strengthening our commitment to providing quality programs for our most fragile citizens. And, in 2009, CFS acquired the Safe Shelter, Inc. adding Domestic Violence Shelter services to our growing CFS family. CFS is proud to serve the people of Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties - and we're ready for the challenges that lie ahead.
