Christ the King Church
History
To describe the Church, the Scripture speaks of seeds planted and steadily growing; in fact the gospel uses the image of tiny mustard seeds planted and growing, but Christ the King began not with mustard seeds but with almonds in an almond orchard across the street from our present property on what is now called “Rolling Hills.”
Christ the King was formally established in January of 1951. The inside of a dilapidated farm house was converted into a tiny chapel complete with altar, a couple of pews and a confessional exactly where the toilet had been; in fact where the toilet was! The first Sunday mass was celebrated under an attached awning and viewed through the kitchen window on Easter Sunday, March 23, 1951.
