Our Local Story:

The first meeting place of the church of Christ in Columbia City was on the second floor of city hall. Later, members met in the home of some of the church members before renting a building located at 209 North Chauncey (pictured below). Once they purchased the property the building currently resides in they held a gospel meeting in a large tent on the property.

Following this meeting, plans were made to build the present building in which the church meets. Most members of the congregation today have no idea of what had to be done to get the property ready for construction. Members of the church cleared the land and did much of the construction. The first service held in the current building was in February 1982. As good stewards of the things God has blessed us with we must do our part to keep the building and grounds clean and maintained.
