Senior Pastors Sonny and Rosie Salas

Along with their three children, Sal, Angela, and Jonathan, founded Church On The Rock-Markham in November of 1991 in obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Church On The Rock-Markham is affliated with Church On The Rock International, an organization of like-minded autonomously governed local churches and ministers. Church On The Rock is a non-denominational charismatic church with emphasis on training and equipping people in order that they might serve the Lord effectively. But more importantly is that each one of us be transformed into the image of Jesus Christ, walking in unconditional love and doing great exploits.

In keeping with the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) our simple goal is to make disciples. This is done by establishing people on the Word of God, making them aware of their individual gifts and challenging them to obey the Lord thereby fulfilling their God given destiny.

Our services usually begin with exuberant, passionate praise and worship exalting and glorifying the Name of Jesus. From the onset of the services, we invite the Holy Spirit to minister to us through His gifts and His people. There is a time for prayer where we believe God for healings and miracles. Pastor Sonny teaches Biblical principles in series form. He moves in the spiritual gifts of word of knowledge, word of wisdom, and discerning of spirits. His wife and co-pastor, Rosie, functions in the gifts of prophecy, word of knowledge and exhortation. From time to time we have anointed seasoned guest ministers utilizing the five-fold ministry as much as possible..

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, equal in all parts, and totally inerrant. We believe in one true God, revealed in the Scriptures as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in the preexistence, incarnation and virgin birth of the Lord Jesus Christ who came into the world to reveal the Father and that He is the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person. We believe that the Holy Spirit though omnipresent throughout all eternity was sent on the Day of Pentecost after the glorification of Jesus Christ. We believe that all of the gifts of the Holy Spirit are available to Christians today and that all of the fruits of the Spirit should and must be operative in the Church for the Church to manifest her full glory under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We believe that Satan is the originator of sin. However, we also believe Jesus Christ defeated Satan through His death on Calvary, burial and resurrection, and that Christ has delegated this victorious authority over Satan to His Body, the Church. We believe that repentance and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ produces the work of justification in the believer through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the full and final payment for all sin forever. We believe that at death the spirits and souls of those who have trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ pass immediately into His presence. We also believe that in accordance with His promise to do so, Jesus Christ will personally return to this earth in power and glory. We further believe in a gracious and merciful God who has promised to keep his children from the great tribulation that shall come upon all the earth in the last of the Last Days.
