Cotati was founded in 1893 and incorporated in 1963 and is one of only two cities in the United States based on a hexagonal design. We are located in one of the most beautiful areas in California and are conveniently located a short distance from both rural and cosmopolitan pursuits. Cotati offers a location with small town charm with access to larger urban centers. And our proximity to Sonoma State University includes an infusion of youthful energy to our town's commerce.

Cotati's residents are very passionate about how we plan ahead for our future. We are actively looking to expand our business base in a way that compliments and enhances our small town atmosphere. Some of our businesses have been around for many years and others are up and coming with the hopes of staying here in this community for years to come. We have many annual events, such as the Kid's Day Parade and Festival, Jazz Festival, Oktoberfest, the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony, and the Accordion Festival. These traditions, which take place in our downtown La Plaza Park, make for a real sense of community pride and a great place to live.
